Starboard 2026 Foil Range showcases the latest advancements in hydrofoil technology with a comprehensive lineup designed for various disciplines, from beginner flights to Olympic-level racing. The core theme centers on the new UCS (Universal Connection System) and the integration of 7000x Auto-Optimization, a design process led by renowned designer Martin Fischer. This range emphasizes increased speed, tighter maneuverability, and a more “connected” feel between the rider and the water.
Key Highlights and New Gear
- Advanced Engineering: The 2026 range introduces 7000x Auto-Optimization, which utilizes computational fluid dynamics to refine performance across several wing models (Glider Pro 2, MF, and SLX).
- Front Wing Lineup:
- Fusion (All-New): The signature foil of Benoit Carpentier, built for a mix of wave riding, freeride, and freestyle.
- Glider 3 (New): Focused on high lift and versatile all-around gliding.
- Glider Pro 2: A high-performance version of the Glider, now optimized for better efficiency.
- MF (New Sizes): Specifically designed for downwind foiling.
- SLX: The dedicated racing wing, built for maximum speed and competitive performance.
- New Tail Wings:
- BC 155 & 155 Short: Designed for fluid carving and responsive turns.
- MF Short (160 & 130): Tailored for agile downwind gliding.
- SLX 190: Focused on achieving maximum speed for racers.
- Design Philosophy: Founder and Chief Designer Tiesda You describes the 2026 collection as the most complete and advanced system to date, catering to the full spectrum of foiling experience levels.
The Universal Connection System (UCS) is Starboard Foils’ ambitious move to standardize foil components, moving away from proprietary fitments toward a shared, open-source standard. The system is designed to provide a rock-solid, high-stiffness connection that eliminates the “play” often found in traditional setups. By offering their 3D design files for free to other manufacturers, Starboard aims to create an ecosystem where masts, fuselages, and wings from different brands are interchangeable, simplified by a “Works with UCS” compatibility logo.

Technical Features and Innovations
- Trimmable Front Wings: In a first for the industry, the UCS allows riders to adjust the angle of the front wing (not just the tail) using internal angle spacers, offering unprecedented control over lift and pitch.
- V-Shape Mast Connection: The mast-to-fuselage joint uses a wide “flat V” mating surface secured by four M6 Torx bolts, creating a direct and extremely rigid interface that handles the high torque of modern racing.
- Hydrodynamic “Sleeve” Design: Both front and tail wings slide over the fuselage using a sleeve system. This covers the connection points with a thin carbon “saddle,” resulting in a seamless, step-free nose that minimizes water turbulence.+1
- Modular Fuselage Geometry: * 99cm Windsurf Fuselage: Features an asymmetrical design; flipping it 180 degrees moves the wings 2cm forward or back to shift the center of effort.
- Extension Spacers: Optional 15mm spacers allow users to manually extend the distance between wings for added stability or upwind power.
- Hybrid Compatibility: To protect current customers’ investments, “Hybrid Fuselages” are available that allow older Starboard masts to connect to the new UCS wings.
- Open Standard: Starboard has made the 3D files available for all brands to download (as of January 2025), encouraging a “Universal” industry standard similar to the Tuttle box or US Box.
