Flite, the Byron Bay-based innovator in electric hydrofoiling, has secured two prestigious iF Design Awards for 2026, recognizing the FLITELab AMPJet* and the Fliteboard RACE. These awards highlight Flite’s commitment to foiling engineering precision and design excellence in the competitive water sports market.

The iF Design Award is one of the world’s most significant design competitions, with this year’s winners selected by a jury of 129 international experts from a pool of over 10,000 submissions. These awards recognize Flite’s advancements in propulsion technology and high-performance electric hydrofoil design among the world’s most prestigious design competitions.

Propulsion & Design: Award-Winning Innovations

FLITELab* AMPJet sets a new standard in hydrodynamic propulsion. It is the first removable jet cartridge fully integrated within a foil board structure. The system provides 25 kilograms / 55 pounds of thrust when required, with no additional drag from external components. Each element serves a defined mechanical purpose: efficiency, control, and safety. The result is an assist system that extends usable conditions while preserving structural integrity and the natural dynamics of hydro-foiling.

  • FLITELab AMPJet:* * Sets a new benchmark as the first removable jet cartridge fully integrated within a foil board structure.
    • Delivers 25kg (55lbs) of thrust without the added drag typically associated with external components.
    • Designed for versatility, allowing the same propulsion system to be used across three disciplines: prone foiling, winging, and downwinding.
    • Enables riders to switch from an assisted to a traditional “unpowered” setup in under 10 seconds.

Fliteboard RACE redefines electric hydro foiling through precision, restraint, and relentless optimisation. Every millimetre serves performance. The elongated hull, lifted rails, and flush foil interface reduce drag and amplify stability through turns. Every surface channels hydrodynamic flow with intent and engineered purpose. The result is a disciplined form that balances speed, control, and hydrodynamic purity, translating technical mastery into a uniquely fluid riding experience.

  • Fliteboard RACE:
    • Developed in collaboration with Mercury Racing to create a high-performance eFoil for competitive use.
    • Features a custom RACE impeller designed to handle higher RPMs and provide razor-sharp control.
    • Reaches top speeds of 55 km/h (34 mph / 30 knots), making it one of the fastest and most composed boards in its class.
    • Engineered to maintain stability and “calmness” at high speeds, even when carrying larger batteries like the Flitecell Explore.
