This year Foiling congress is taking place in Genova, Italy May 20th 2005. It is presented to the best projects, athletes and events, grouped in 14 hydrofoiling categories and voted for by the international community and stakeholders in the foiling industry.

There are 13 different foiling categories with the Forlanini Award honoring the best overall foiling achievement in the last year. The โ€œForlanini Awardโ€ is dedicated to the Italian foiling pioneer Enrico Forlanini, who conceived and tested the first foiling prototypes in 1906 on Lago Maggiore โ€“ Italy, reaching a speed of 38 knots.

Other awards include the best female and male foiling sailors, sailing team, hydrofoiling innovation technology, sustainability, foiling project, event, pathway, motor boat, commercial project, on-off boat, foiling production boat, and a water-toy.
