Foiling Week is the first event worldwide completely dedicated to foiling boats and to all designers and builders, born in Malcesine in 2014. Foiling Week is not only a race, but a complete event, with conferences, boats tests, foil classes and collateral events.
Getting underway this week, the 11th edition of Foiling Week also aims to strengthen the commitment to youth sailing and sustainability. The racing show will be granted by six of the hottest classes at the moment: WASZP, Moth, ETF26, Switch One Design, Birdyfish and X-15 wingfoilers, able to gather in Malcesine more than 500 sailors from all over the world.
On June 28th an epic Downwind Race, open to any foiling board with any propulsion except motors and organized in collaboration with Circolo Surf Segnana, will be run from Arco to Malcesine in the morning and back to Arco in the afternoon.
Foiling Week will be organized with the support of the Municipality of Malcesine and hosted by Fraglia Vela Malcesine, a Club that has in its DNA the creation of regattas of excellence. The Foiling Week village at FVM will be open to the public during the event.
2024 edition of the Foiling SuMoth Challenge records the participation of 11 University Teams, contesting to design and build the best performing and at the same time sustainable Moth.
Foiling Week also features a full schedule of technical and coaching clinics and workshops to further the development of sailing. Omer Brand, Board Member of We Are Foiling and The Magenta Project, will coordinate The Magenta Project Clinic 2024 and the Foiling Week YOUTH Clinic 2024, while a special edition of World Sailingβs Steering the Course will encourage the development of female coaches in collaboration with Katja Salskov-Iversen, member of the ROCKWOOL Denmark SailGP Team.
Luigi Maffioli and Master Splicer Davide Fuzzi will lead Gottifredi Maffioli Splicing Workshops for participants on 26 June and Nicolai Jacobsen will lead the Coaching Moths Clinic on the same day. On 27 June, three-time World Champion Olivia Piana will hold a one-day foiling SUP Clinic at Circolo Surf Segnana.
A Sustainability Panel is scheduled for 28 June which will see speakers representing World Sailing, ROCKWOOL, Recarbon, NLComp, The Magenta Project, Foiling SuMoth Challenge, BioDesign Foundation, Terra Baleeira, The Foiling Organization.
